LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!

Thursday is Elle's last day of school! Yea!
It's been a great year. She had a fun teacher, who was always saying funny things.
Whenever Elle would tell me one of these "Popeisms," I'd write it down. So, for your viewing pleasure:

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW
I LEARNED IN
MR. POPE'S FIRST GRADE CLASS
by Elle Harvey
*Jealousy is bad (this was right after Chris' presentation on Dreamworks)
*Venice beach is the best for surfing
*Brush your tongue so your breath won't stink
* Sugar is bad for you
*You won't grow an orange if you swallow an orange seed
*When a ship is about to sink, ladies get off first and men stay and sink with the boat
*There's a food chain and guess what's at the top? US! (Even though things are bigger than us)
*There should be no more nose picking!
*When you wiggle a Sprite can, there's pressure inside and it wants to come out, so when we open it, here it comes, spraying like a volcano
*If you eat too much turkey, you'll get sleepy
*An inclined plane is just a fancy way to say “ramp”
*gum comes from a gum tree
*Don't brush your teeth too hard
*When your toothbrush top is flat, it's time to get a new toothbrush
* B.F.F. Means “best friends forever”
* We are Flinstone kids
*The secret to making our class sleepy: turn on the heater and make us watch a movie
* How to golf clap
*Mr. Pope can be nice sometimes
*Horses are dangerous creatures; if you stand in back of one, it may kick you.
* You're supposed to say, “One hundred fifty” not “one hundred AND fifty”
* spectacular means really really neat
* abdomen is another word for stomach
* a spectator is when someone watches something in real life, not like watching a movie, but like watching the circus
* vacant means empty
* dogs have six times better scent than us
*only tattle-tale on someone if they have a gun, knife, bomb, or their head is cracked open, or their eyeball is hanging out
* It's a free country. You can do whatever you want as long as you follow the law
* bi means two and tri means three
* Mr. Pope is a funny dancer
* the TV is an electric babysitter and idiot box
* Mr. Pope is like a dad because he carries sick and crying kids to the office and he pulls kids' teeth
*It's better to be a girl than a boy
*The governor is taking away our money for papers and art alley
* Two heads are better than one
* Mr. Pope can't wait until tomorrow because he gets better looking every day. (and so do we)

And Happy Father's Day to the father of my daughter!

Thank you.

What a nice day!

Today, Elle and Chris went to a stake Daddy-daughter carnival activity/service project. They made place mats and pictures for a children's hospital and then played games outside. There was a bounce house and prizes! Elle came home with candy, a princess tote bag and a radio!

It was such a lovely day, we decided to go to the park. We had so much fun playing, I didn't even take any pictures.
Elle taught Chris and I how to play hand ball. Then we all played kick ball. After that, Elle and I threw the Frisbee and then had a jump rope skipping contest. Then we played on the playground. Elle's sandals were so dirty from the sand, she didn't want to get in the newly washed Mini, so she and I walked home!

We dropped Elle off at Kristen's for our date night and when we came to pick her up, she was missing a tooth!! The very tooth that has been trying to come out for weeks! Now she has matching missing teeth on either side of her bottom front teeth!
Kristen said Elle ASKED her to pull it out! First, she tried with her fingernail, then she tried with dental floss. They tried a second time with dental floss and Elle started to bleed. Kristen wanted to try one more time, but Elle said, "No! Wait! I need to wipe my mouth!" Which she did and her tooth plopped out onto her chest!
It was a great day!

Good Food Friday

Once again, I am making stuff for school. Tomorrow I'll be debuting chicken cordon bleu.

Here's what I did:

I sliced chicken breasts in half crosswise, then I put each section in a baggie and pounded it silly until it was flat. I set that aside. I spread pieces of ham out and put a little dollop of dijon sauce on each one, then I added a tiny piece of cream cheese and a little hunk of swiss cheese. Then, I rolled the ham up and put it in the middle of the chicken. Then I rolled up the chicken and dipped it in a melted butter and beaten egg mixture. Then I rolled that gooey mess in some stove top stuffing that I had blended a little bit.
I hope the teachers like it!! *fingers crossed*

News bulletin!

Elle lost a tooth tonight!

Actually, it has been super loose since yesterday. She was waiting for Kristen to come over and pull it out since she pulled her last tooth out! Kristen wasn't available, so Chris had to do the deed himself!

Camping!

We decided to go camping this weekend! We set up the tent in our living room
and watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Bang while in the tent. (Elle's teacher recommended it. Now I know why I had kidnapping nightmares as a kid)
To make the experience more authentic, we roasted hot dogs (over the stove) and we even had s'mores for dessert.
Chris opted to spend the night in his own comfy bed Friday night. Elle and I roughed it.
The next night, we watched Star Trek: The Next generation and we all fell asleep when it was over. Chris and I woke up and we BOTH headed for the bed. Elle stuck it out and even slept in the next day!
Elle and I played games in the tent that day and much to Elle's disappointment, Chris and I took it down that night.
It was pretty fun!
