Life of Christ Day 3

Day 3
Young Jesus in the temple
GAP 205
Luke 2: 41-45
Jesus and His parents went to Jerusalem for Passover.  Unbeknownst to Mary and Joseph, Jesus stayed in Jerusalem and sat “in the midst of the doctors, and they were hearing him and asking him questions” (see footnote 46c
“It was no unusual thing for a twelve year old boy to be questioned by priests, scribes, or rabbis,
nor to be permitted to ask questions of these professional expounders of the law, for such procedure was part of the educational training of Jewish youths”. . .
“the mother said: Thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.”. . .Said He: “How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”. . .His reply was to Mary a reminder of what she seems to have forgotten for the moment—the facts in the matter of her Son’s paternity. . . She appears to have been astonished that One so young should so thoroughly understand His position with respect to herself.” (Jesus the Christ p.113-116)
