BEFORE.
Yesterday I went to get new make-up and a make-up lesson in Beverly Hills! (oo, la la!)
I tried to go the other day. I had the address and everything, but the building I thought it was had a big ol' FOR LEASE on it and it didn't look like anything was alive in there.
I called Chris to confirm the address for me.
It really was the right place, so I tried to find the parking garage because the meters on the street were only one hour.
I started to driving in the WRONG end of the garage and they guys told me I needed to go around.
I finally found the entrance, but then I didn't know how to get to where I needed to go.
A nice young lady said she'd show me. She also showed me where to pay for parking when I was done. She led me to the elevator and told me to get off at 2.
I did.
I walked to the only establishment on 2 which was CLEARLY not the place I needed.
It was web design or something.
I wandered around aimlessly and somehow, after about ten minutes, I found the area.
It was a big room with lots of little studios about the size of my kitchen. (not that big)
Each studio was different. Some were massage beds. Some were nail places.
I even saw a six year old (or younger) getting her hair dyed. (weird!)
Finally,
FINALLY, I found the right studio. I noticed that, had I parked on the street like I wanted to, I could have simply walked up a few steps and been right where I needed to be. (argh!)
I was pert near tears when I went in the tiny studio.
The woman sat me down in her tall chair and started combing my eyebrows. "So, we're waxing and dying them, then?" she asked.
"Um, I was here for a make-up lesson?"
"Oh, nonononono! I need more time for THAT! You should have
specified on the phone!" (I had tried to when I called and started asking what I needed to do before I came, but she just told me to go to her
web site. It said they do eyebrows and make-up lessons. Anyway. . .)
"Are you sure you don't want me to dye your eyebrows? You REALLY need to."
I politely declined.
Then she stood back and scrutinized my face and said, "Oh
YES! You can
definitely benefit from our products!"
(um, harsh much, lady?)
"You should REALLY consider dying those eyebrows!" she called as I left.
It took me another 10 minutes to find my car. I was in west parking and my car was in east or something.
The nice parking attendant lady told me " Just go up to level 2"
Well, I did and my car was NOT there!
I went back down and she said she'd take me to my car in the other lot because I could not find it.
So, I went with another parking lady who took me up to level 2 and then around a curvy hall and down another hall and
voila!
Easy peasy. How COULD I have missed it when I tried by by myself?
ha.ha.
I had made a follow up appointment for a make-up lesson, but I was not really sure I wanted to go back there.
Could you blame me, really?
I WAS out of make-up and I DID need some pointers from someone other than those old ladies at the mall.
So.
I went.
Lisa was visiting that day, and she was kind enough to drive me so I didn't have the added stress of parking.
Thanks again, Lisa! You saved my sanity!!
This time, the woman again told me I should dye my eye brows. I was firm and said "no."
"Can I wax them?" she wanted to know.
"Um, I've never had it done. .."
"Don't worry"
"I'm worried."
"I have a gentle pull"
(oxymoron?)
I was prepared for MUCH worse thanks to
Kristen's description of when she had
her eyebrows waxed:
"It felt like like the top layer of my skin was being ripped off!"
So, it wasn't so bad.
It hurt plenty--don't get me wrong.
And I was REALLY REALLY red around my eyebrows.
I guess they look good now.
I liked the make-up she applied even if she applied it in a very business-like manner.
She seemed pleased with herself as well.
She wrote it all down for me and didn't charge me for the lesson, only the make-up which was
$$$
I even made a follow up to wax those brows of mine again.
Yes.
I am crazy.
