Look Who's Gone Crafty!

Like all bored moms with time on their hands, I decided to do a craft!

WHAT?!

(I know, right?!)

It seemed like a cute idea at the time, but now, every time I look at it I get the willies!

True story:
When I bought the styrofoam wreath I plopped it on the counter and fished around for my coupon.  When the check- out clerk picked it up to scan it, out came a REAL spider and skittered across the counter!

It was creepy, but so funny since that is what I was planned to glue on it! (except, ya know, FAKE spiders. I'm not a psycho)

The clerk was like, " I don't know....should I call someone to come kill it?!"

I wished her good luck and got out of there FAST!

Gross: what if it had been on the wreath the whole time as I carried it to the check- out counter! 😳

In this part of the country  the dress code is altered to accommodate the heat.*

It may be hot here, but it sure is beautiful!

*just kidding! ;)

Skirt Sharing

Remember how I said Elle likes to share clothes?

Well, we were on a mission to find some skirts seeing as how it's blazing hot and all, and came upon ONE cute yellow skirt.

Who would wear it?

"Let's share it!" was Elle's ready reply.

So we each found a white shirt (we couldn't find anything else in the store that would work with it) and some accessories.

Then we went home and did a photo shoot of each other.

Not nearly as good as all the photo shoots my friends do, but oh well!

I just HAD to put a twirly shot in

And a realistic picture showing what Elle thought of my idea of a photo shoot.

More fun to come, I'm sure!

I Am Thankful For My Friends!

We have been so blessed to have friends here in the desert.

They've had us over/up for dinner so we don't feel alone, and sent us on our merry way armed with games so we can entertain ourselves.  More dinners and fun are planned for the future!

Our other friends also keep us well fed and entertained as well as providing us easy access to the little siblings Elle never had.

Aw!  So cute!

I guess this counts as "Sunday Dress and Hair" since she's in a dress and this was taken yesterday, right?

By the WAY.  . .

That is actually my dress!  Elle has borrowed stolen two of my shirts, two dresses, and two skirts!
But to be fair, this dress and one skirt wasn't quite to my knees, and one of the shirts wasn't my size to begin with.
She's loving that we can "share" clothes!

I, Nanette, having been born of goodly parents...

We recently finished reading the Book of Mormon as a family and now we're back to 1 Nephi.

It turns out that you really CAN apply the scriptures to your situation.

We almost laughed out loud when we read
1 Nephi 2:4

And it came to pass that he departed into the wilderness. And he left his house ...and his precious things, and took nothing with him, save it were his family, and provisions...and departed into the wilderness.

You can go back a couple posts and see our car and the few provisions that we took with us.

And I'm pretty sure we can call this place the wilderness!

I have to admit I was right there with Sariah in chapter 5:2
...she also complained against my father telling him that he was a visionary man, saying: Behold, thou hast led us from the land of our inheritance...and we perish in the wilderness!

Then Chris said,
Vs. 4 ...but had [I] tarried at [pixar, I would have] perished with my brethren

I know that it will all work out for us too.

It's just kind of frustrating in the meantime

Livin' the Dream

It has been quite the adventure this summer!

Packing all our stuff into the garages

Driving some of the bare necessities to CA

Stopping by to have some fun with Aunt Lisa

Then to

Home

Sweet

Home!

We have plenty of fun here in Sunny SoCal:

Playing cards and eating popcorn from a frying pan because we don't have anything else big enough to put it in or any other games to play. . .

Playing Minecraft. . .

Watching movies on the big screen. . .

(not quite as big as we're used to, but it's all good)

Elle enjoying her first youth activity at someone's pool

AND. . .

Swimming in a pool of our own!
(at the apartment, I mean.  Not at our Dream House)

Not sure when we'll be able to move, but until then. . .
