Me cooking my hard-boiled egg for lunch

Today, I am cooking my hard-boiled egg for lunch.

I am waiting for my hard-boiled egg.

I am happily waiting for my hard-boiled egg.

I'll tell you how I cooked it. I have to wait until it's boiling and when it's boiling , I have to get a spoon, and gently put it in and gently take it out. When the egg is in, you have to turn it down to 4--I like on 4. And that's how I'm cooking my egg! The end.

The day Elle got her ears pierced

Elle and I went to the mall today to see if there were any sales on summer clothes. Elle asked if we could stop at "the girly store" which is how we refer to Claire's--ya know, the store with earrings, bracelets, hair accessories etc. After we bought a few clothes for school, we made our way to the "girly store". As I always do, I asked Elle if she wanted to get her ears pierced today. To my GREAT surprise, she nodded and said "yes"! Then I was the one to be nervous. I asked "Are you sure?" plenty times. She was. I wasn't.
But, we went anyway and looked at some of the fun "girly" stuff. After Elle spent all her money on some princess spray and make-up, we went to the ear piercing chair. She picked out her earrings and I had to sign a long form, and then she was ready! She acted brave enough, then the lady cleaned her ears. She was still o.k. until the lady drew a dot on her lobe with a marker. Then she jumped as if she had been pierced! When it was time for the real thing, she jerked her head a little and said "ow!" and started to cry silently :( The lady gave her a minute before she went at the other ear. Elle said "ow!" again, but was very pleased to see her new earrings in the mirror!
As we were walking back to the car, I asked Elle when she changed her mind about getting her ears pierced. She said she had a dream last night about piercing her ears and getting perfume and make up at the "girly store" So, I guess today, all her dreams came true!

The day I got my ears pierced

Last night I dreamed I got my ears pierced and went to the mall.
And that morning, my mom wanted me to wear my earrings. (clip on)
And that very same day, I got my ears pierced!

It hurt! She told me to count to three and then she would do it.
Then when she was done I said, "Ow!" the next one I said that too.
I get to sleep in my earrings and have showers. . .so, it'll be fun!

I think I want to show Connor and Kristen that.
I'm anxious to hear what they'll say. I don't know what they'll say.
That's why I'm anxious.
the end.

Nan's jam

Today, Elle and I spent the whole day at the Jenkins' house. Elle played while I made strawberry jam! Rachel invited us over to make the kind of jam you cook since she recently inherited "the stuff" you need to make it. We also made freezer jam. I ended up making five 12 oz jars of each kind, plus three more containers worth of freezer jam. I feel so domestic today!

Elle's debut

For family night tonight, we are having our non-member friends come over. (They call it "game night"). Elle is giving the lesson on the ten lepers. Since she's been learning to play the piano, she's also going to play the opening song (treble clef only) which is "For Health and Strength." Here she is!

Elle's water balloon

Since Elle was eating lunch during the water balloon toss yesterday at the birthday party, we let her drop a water balloon over the side of the balcony today. Great fun.

Here's the live action:

Yet again!

Today, Elle and I went to a birthday party for a little boy who was in Elle's kindergarten class, and his twin sister. At the end of the party they had. . . A PINATA! Yet again!
The dad set up a rickety metal ladder and climbed to the third from top step. Then, each kid was blindfolded (I guess to make it even more ridiculoulsy hard)as they got a turn whacking the air and sometimes the brick-hard pinata. Finally, the pony pinata's head came off and it dangled Nearly Headless Nick-like while the kids all got a second turn. Then, surprise, surprise, no holes were made, no candy fell out. So, the dad fully decapitated the pony pinata and pulled out its candy guts and flung them into the air and onto the heads of the kids gathered around the base of the ladder. We parents cringed as we saw the suckers and other hard candy denting our kid's heads.
One of the moms told me of a pinata party she had attended not long ago that now makes her cringe with fear at the sight of a pinata. She said a kid was whacking away with a big stick at the pinata and the rest of the kids kept crowding closer and closer. Then, one little boy was hit near his eye which came out of its socket and lay danging on his cheek! EW!!!
Ya. I'm terrified of the things now! However, this mom did hear of a good alternative to the pinata thing. She said you get the kind that has strings attached and everyone grabs a string and one of the strings (no one knows which one--how exciting!) lets loose the candy. Then, out falls individual zip lock bags. Each kid gets one and everybody is happy. I guess. . .
